Post-production and Reflection

 Film

I started to get nervous that I wasn't going to finish the film after having the worst week of my life and working tirelessly through a long mental breakdown, seconded by the rest period I had to have after that happened to me. I unforuntely didn't get any parts coloured, which I am honestly heartbroken about, however I hadn't done much colour work before that or even decided on palettes for my main characters nevermind the rest of the film, so it would've taken a lot longer than I suppose I had realised. This is the film without sound but the film with sound will be on OneDrive. I can't say I'm mad about how my film came out though. I feel as though I worked really hard and my main issue was that I had aimed too high with the project for the time scale I was given, so better time management or setting myself more achievable goals in future is definitely going to be something to consider. Despite this, I think my film reads well and I enjoy the pacing and inbetweens in particular. I feel I really managed to bring my vision to life, and other than the lack of colour, it turned out exactly how I wanted it to from concept to final compilation. I also think it suits The Beano values well. I brought their Biffo to life in a way that feels Beano-y, playful and dynamioc, and has a wide demographic that could enjoy my short whilst still very much being attractive to kids. My inspiration from other popular media aimed to teens helped with this I believe, and just generally having had a strong, clear idea of what I wanted to do throughout the entire process.

By the end, I'd completely gone off the Gantt chart projections because of having to apply for an extension, however I did complete the animating a week before my new deadline so I still had it in my head that everything was on track enough to have something to show. I compiled everything I had into a large after effects file and ported those into premiere where I could play with transitions and pacing and where to hold shots for longer or shorter. I was having a bit of a nightmare trying to judge the pacing as premiere wasn't always playing back to me in real time but all in all I'm proud of what I made and how it runs.
